Violent attack by drunk husband leaves woman dead
Agitated over his wife stopping him from consuming liquor, a carpenter allegedly assaulted her with a utensil stand, leading to her death at Hallomajra on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Reeta, 32.

According to Sector-31 police, Reeta was objecting to her husband, Jugnu Kumar, drinking liquor during the day on Sunday. This led to an altercation between the two, following which Kumar allegedly picked up a utensil stand and hit her with it.
Neighbours of the couple, who heard their squabble, rushed Reeta to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Later, police reached Hallomajra and arrested Kumar before registering a case of murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against him.
Police, who sent the body for post-mortem examination, said the body did not bear any external injuries. The victim is survived by six children. The police have informed her relatives.
