Wanted criminal held, pistol seized

Chandigarh police on Sunday claimed to have achieved a major success by arresting a criminal wanted by the Punjab Police and recovered a pistol from his possession. The accused has been identified as Narinder Singh, resident of Patiala.

After receiving secret information, a police party, headed by sub-inspector Jaspal Singh of operations cell, under supervision of inspector Jasminder Singh, in-charge operations cell, laid a naka on the Chandigarh-Kaimbwala road and apprehended Narinder, who was coming in an Indica car (PB-65R-5594) from Kaimbwala village to Chandigarh.

One country made pistol (.32 bore), along with five live cartridges, were recovered from his possession. Narinder was arrested in 2004 in SAS Nagar in connection with a murder case of a lady namely Harjit Kaur.

In 2009 also, he was arrested in two different cases of robbery at Gobindgarh, Punjab, where he, along with his accomplices, fired gunshots and robbed cash.

Narinder is also wanted in two different criminal cases in Punjab. In April, he along with other accused namely Jagdeep Singh, and Harjinder Singh alias Billa, fired upon a jeweller at Mullanpur village and robbed cash and jewellery from him.

In May, when the police party of Derra Bassi tried to stop the suspects, they fired gunshots at the cops. The accused will be produced in court on Monday.
