Reiterating the Punjab government’s firm commitment to lift every grain of farmers from the market during the ongoing procurement season, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday directed officers of the state government to make all-out efforts for ensuring smooth, timely and hassle-free lifting of grains.
Presiding over a high-level meeting held here at his office to review wheat procurement, the chief minister had detailed interaction with officers on issues pertaining to procurement, moisture content, damage and payment of the wheat crop.
He asked the officers, particularly managing directors of state procurement agencies, to visit grain markets for ensuring that farmers did not face any problem in selling their harvest.
“This will facilitate farmers in selling their harvest without harassment,” added the chief minister.
It was informed during the meeting that in order to ensure smooth, prompt and hassle-free procurement of wheat, the state food and civil supplies department had already issued the wheat procurement policy for the current marketing season.
