Week-long induction programme at hotel mgmt institute kicks off

A week-long induction programme for its new entrants for the session 2014-17 at University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism (UIHMT), Panjab University (PU) started on Wednesday.

Dean Student Welfare (DSW) Navdeep Goyal inaugurated the programme at ‘The Green Ivy’, which is an advance training restaurant of UIHMT.

Goyal sensitised the students about various facilities provided to the students by the university. The presiding guest, director UIHMT, RK Gupta, also welcomed the new batch to the university. He shared the legacy and history of PU with the students.

Later in the afternoon different experts shared their experience with the students and motivated them to pursue their studies with great passion so that in the years to come, they could contribute to the development of the society.

On the second day of the induction programmes on Thursday, the people - from the airlines training and personality development institute demonstrated the grooming techniques to the budding professionals of hospitality industry.

Prashant Gautam, coordinator of the induction programme said during this week long induction programme, experts from various fields would be on board to widen the horizon of the students about the industry.
