Targeting the Congress on the 1984 military raid on the Golden Temple in Amritsar, yoga guru Baba Ramdev said the-then prime minister, Indira Gandhi, had faced the consequences of her actions.

He was addressing the media here during the Lok Sabha election campaign of Prem Singh Chandumajra, Akali-BJP candidate for the Anandpur Sahib seat. "What Indira sowed, she reaped," he said, comparing her daughter-in-law and current Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, to various she-demons. He referred to Sonia as "bimar" (ill) and her son, Rahul Gandhi, as "nadaan" (novice).

He was on his way to campaigning for senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitely in Amritsar and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) nominee Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Bathinda. "The Congress has looted the country for 60 years, and in past 10 years, crossed all limits," he said, stooping further to call Sonia "looteri bahu" (thief daughter-in-law) who had "stolen everything and sent to her parent's house".

Regarding the Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib, Ambika Soni, Ramdev said "the member of the kitchen cabinet of Sonia" and had "come for a picnic to the constituency". "Her duty is to please her boss and she has no contribution to the country," he added.

Ramdev has set out to campaign for 100 BJP candidates. Asked to clarify his stand on the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said preserving heritage was "our responsibility". On the issue of "Namo, Namo" and "Har Har" slogans for BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Ramdev said "NaMo" was the abbreviation of Modi's name.

Speaking at Ropar, later, he said the Congress had brought Monica Bedi, ex-girlfriend of don Abu Salem, into its election campaign in Sambal (Madhya Pradesh) recently, which showed that the party had links with the underworld. "The Congress is the most communal party, responsible for Partition on religion grounds and the death of 10-lakh people in 1947, and the massacre of Sikhs in 1984," he said.

Sonia hated Hindus and Hindu saints and deserved to be sent home to Italy, he said.
