Sucha Singh Chottepur, AAP Convener, Punjab
HT: How is this Delhi election different for AAP from the previous two — 2013 assembly and 2014 Lok Sabha — it has contested?
There is larger support for AAP this time, and we will carry this momentum to Punjab. We won four seats in the parliamentary polls, and now hope to have much more success in the civic body polls and Dhuri bypoll which are near, and the 2017 assembly polls too. That will change the political map of Punjab, as we will get a thumping majority.
What is going to be your strategy for the Punjab civic polls?
So far we have not pondered on it, but after finishing the Delhi polls we will start working on that.
It is seen that voices from Punjab unit of AAP are not coordinated. Why?
We are one voice. There are small things that need to be settled, and that would be done very soon. I want to make it clear that the present government [in Punjab] might survive if the AAP is unable to project itself properly.
How vital is Punjab AAP’s role in the Delhi polls?
Though we have volunteers from other states too, Punjab’s role is crucial. I am sure the party leadership can’t rule out its Punjab unit, and in future polls too it would take us seriously.
How big is the issue of drugs in Delhi polls?
It’s a big issue as those with a Punjab connection understand it and want to keep away from drugs.
