MP Prem Singh Chandumajra on Thursday promised to provide a new train to connect Anandpur Sahib and Amritsar.
Chandumajra, who was speaking at the launch of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' at a function held on Thursday, said starting a new train between the two cities will make it easier for devotees to commute. A new train between the two holy cities has been a longstanding demand of pilgrims, who currently have to go via Sirhind to reach Amritsar. Additionally he announced that a new platform would be constructed at the Anandpur Sahib railway station and the railway yard at Nangal would be extended.
The MP also announced that a new railway over-bridge would be constructed near the Nangal dam to ease traffic congestion.
