Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti today asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to withdraw cases registered against 5,000 youths in Srinagar or else the party would launch an agitation.

"Teenagers were lodged in jails for stone-pelting and about 5,000 FIRs are still pending in various police stations of Srinagar," Ms Mufti said in her speech in the House.

"We will agitate in every nook and corner of Srinagar if the government did not withdraw all the FIRs against the youths," she warned.

"No matter if the government terms the stone-pelters PDP activists, the party will continue fighting for them unless all the cases were withdrawn and those lodged in jails released," she added.
