A woman and the child in womb died during the delivery at the civil hospital on Sunday. It is being alleged that they died due to the negligence of the staff.

Following the death, the relatives of the deceased created ruckus in the hospital, and demanded action against the errant staff members.

The deceased, Saroj, is a resident of Jaggi Colony, and her husband Pinto is a migrant labour.

Pinto told that his wife was admitted to the civil hospital on March 8. On Sunday, the nursing staff told him that there were complications in the delivery and she might be operated.

Alleging negligence, he said that despite her serious condition, the staff, including doctors, did not attended her properly, resulting in her death.

Locals said that after the protest, the Baldev Nagar police reached the hospital and assured the relatives of appropriate action after the post-mortem report.

A board was constituted to access the outcome of the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, the body was also handed over to the relatives after the autopsy.

The officials concerned said that though they had not received any complaint, the matter was being investigated.
