In what the police now claim to be a case of blackmail, a Panipat woman first filed a false rape case against a Mubarikpur property dealer and then demanded Rs 1.5-2 crore to drop the charges.
Police have arrested the woman, Priyanka, 28, and also booked four of her accomplices in the conspiracy. The property dealer, Tony, has been discharged from the case and released from jail after 68 days.
The woman had filed the case on March 6, alleging that Tony had raped her at Morni, on the pretext of giving her a job.
The case took a U-turn after the dealer’s brother Arvind Pal approached the DCP, alleging that the family was being black mail e d . He submitted phone call details, which purportedly showed the woman and her four accomplices demanding Rs 1.5 crore. He alleged that two accomplice were involved in flesh trade.
The police reinvestigated the case and found that on March 6, the day of the alleged rape, the woman was with four of her accomplices, Mukesh, Ramesh, Naresh and Krishan Kumar, an ASI with the Haryana police, till afternoon.
The police now claim that the conspiracy was planned by ASI Krishan Kumar, after the property dealer allegedly slapped him over a dispute. The address that the woman registered with the police at the time of filing the rape case was found to be false.
“One of the meetings between the two parties took place at Karnal, where money was demanded to settle the case. One of my staff was witness to money being demanded,” said ACP Jagtaar Singh.
The woman was ar rested under Sections 182 (giving false information), 465 (forgery), 388 (extortion) and 120-B of the IPC on Wednesday and produced before a court, which sent her to Ambala jail for 14 days.
