Woman dragged by motorcycle-borne men after snatching

A 35-year-old school teacher was dragged to a few meters by two motorcycle-borne youths after they snatched her purse on Friday. The victim received injuries on her arms and legs.


The incident took place around 1.30 pm. Neera, working with Blue Bird School and a resident of Sector 26, had gone to Sector 11 market for depositing her Rs 10,000 cheque.

“I was carrying the cheque, Rs 2,500 cash, mobile phone and some documents regarding my driving licence in my purse,” she said.

“When no one was around me, two motorcycle-borne youths snatched my purse. But I kept holding it. They pushed me down. I fell down on the streets.

But I did not leave the purse and was dragged up to a few meters. I got injuries on arms and legs,” she added. Both the accused were wearing helmets.

After that the police was called and a case was registered under Section 356 (for using criminal force for committing theft of property) and 379 (for theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 5 police station.

“We are investigating the case,” said assistant sub inspector Resham Singh, in-charge of Sector 10 police post. The medical of the woman was also conducted.
