The police dug out the body of a 20-year-old woman from Phase 6 cremation ground on Saturday after they found she died under mysterious circumstances.
The woman has been identified as Sadhna, originally from Delhi. Police sources said that the body was lying the house of the prime suspect Pramod Kumar, a native of Sangrur, since the past three days.
The incident came to light after two men, including Kumar, and two women were alleged spotted attempting to move her body to their car by their neighbours, who immediately alerted the police. Sources also said that the quartet was also questioned by locals at the cremation ground.
During questing, the police found that Kumar ran a sex racket at his house.
While the cause of death is yet to be ascertained, the police also found marks on her neck.
Kumar has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, besides various sections of the Immoral Trafficking Act as well as section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Indian Penal Code. The others, meanwhile, are currently absconding.
