In a broad day light robbery near the Sector-38 gurdwara, three masked miscreants forced a woman resident on a two-wheeler to stop and robbed her of Rs 1.5 lakh. The scooter, a Honda Activa, was later found dumped on the dividing road of Sector 14 and Sector 25 near Panjab University.

The victim, Sushma, a resident of Mata Gujari enclave, Kharar, who runs a Verka booth in sector 41, was on her way to Axis Bank to deposit the money at around 3 pm, when the miscreants, who had been following her on a motorcycle, grabbed at her dupatta, forcing her to fall.

Then, they hit her with the safety helmet and snatched the bag with the money and the scooter.

Eyewitnesses claimed one of the robbers drove away her scooter, while the two other assailants fled on the bike.

The victim Sushma called up her husband, Naveen Kumar, who then informed the police.

After the police flashed the message, the Activa was recovered with the victim’s mobile phone in the boot.

Sector-39 station house officer (SHO) Gurmukh Singh said, “The CCTV camera footage installed at various roundabouts have been procured. A case under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.”
