Woman, son held for drug peddling

The local police arrested a 20-year-old man and his mother for smuggling banned drugs and seized 960 capsules from them in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The accused was identified as Moses alias Muna (20) and Viveka alias Manju (50), residents of Zirakpur.

Station house officer of Sector 19 police station inspector Poonam Dilawari said the accused were travelling on a Maruti car, which was stopped at a naka near Sector 19 market for inspection.

During checking, the police found 960 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvonr (R) Plus, which were later seized. Dilawari said the accused had come to deliver the capsules in the city.

The duo was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. A case under Section 22 (punishment for contravention in relation to psychotropic substances) of the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered at the Sector 19 police station.
