Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib constituency Ambika Soni addressed a number of public meetings in Chamkaur Sahib assembly segment as part of her campaigning on Friday. She addressed a meet at Cholta village, Navipur, Najheri, Rodda, Rattangarh, Garanagan, Datarpur, Badwal, Behwalpur, Chalaki, Doomchheri, Samana, Mundian, Dumna, Oind, Raipur, Khanpur and Kotla Nihang.

While addressing these meetings, Ambika took a dig at her rival Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra for his 'budhi aurat'(old lady) remarks against her.

"I have been hearing derogatory statements made by my opponents against me since the beginning of the campaign. These statements don't bother me a bit; but what is surprising is that even in the 21st century people can say such things about a woman. Their outlook about women leaves me infuriated.

We need to stand up against such people who cannot respect women,"she said.

"Congress has always understand the importance of women in society and has focused to ensure they are not neglected."

Chamkaur Sahib MLA Charanjit Singh Channi, SAS Nagar MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu also spoke on the occasion.
