Women not safe in Cong-ruled states: Smriti

National president of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha Smriti Irani has alleged that women are not safe in Congress-governed states of the country. She was addressing a public meeting here at the Dhalpur ground in favour of the BJP nominee from Kullu Ram Singh on Wednesday.

She said that female foeticide cases were on the rise in the Congress-ruled states and the respective governments were not taking desires steps to check the inhuman act. She said that the Dhumal government in Himachal had started various schemes for uplifting the women. She said that "Beti hai anmol" was one such scheme, while the government provided free delivery facility to the women in the state.

Smriti Irani further alleged that tenure of UPA government at the Centre was full of scams. She said that the Congress never tried to eliminate poverty seriously and instead was burdening the common man by withdrawing subsidies, especially on cooking gas cylinders. She said that BJP government would give induction cooktops to the people of the state.

She appealed to the people to cast their votes in favour of BJP candidate Ram Singh. She said that the Himachal polls would be a trendsetter.
