Punjabi singer Hardy Sandhu, the latest talking point for his song Soch, in the video of which he even showcased his acting abilities by portraying a mentally challenged person, is known mostly as a one-album-old-singer. From the same album, Hardy’s previous songs such as Aashiqui Da Loan and Tequila Shot were often heard at various discotheques and lounges last year.
Currently, he is going gaga about the one-million-and-counting hits that his three-week-old song Soch is garnering on YouTube. Meanwhile, the shoot of his upcoming movie, Yaaran Da Katchup, was recently concluded in Thailand.
“After my first album, This is Hardy Sandhu, that released in December 2012, I was seen in two collaborations of mine, called Kudi Tu Pataka and Tashan Di Lohri. When I was approached to play one of the leads in Punjabi film Yaaran Da Katchup, I was a bit apprehensive. I guess one always is when it’s the start of a career,” he says.
But, once Hardy was convinced that this is the appropriate launch pad for him, he plunged into a new role. The singer he was certain that his latest tracks would be loved by everyone. “Soch is my hard work of over three months and the credit of its success definitely goes to the entire team.
When someone like Diljit Dosanjh praised and shared the song on Facebook, it meant a lot for me,” he says gratefully. The song was shot over two days in Jalandhar and Chail Palace, Himachal Pradesh. “My inspiration for the role was lead character of the Hollywood film I Am Sam,” he adds.
Not many know that the singer is also a former cricket player who has represented India in the U-19 category and even played the Ranji Trophy Punjab. Be it his previous love for cricket, his recent for singing or his new love for acting, Hardy, 25, has been fortunate enough to have landed the right opportunity each time.
Excited about the release of his debut film on February 14, Hardy says, “Next, I am working on a sad-romantic song with the same team of music makers and also working on my second album,” he signs off.
