The Punjab and Haryana governments submitted in the Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday that they were taking steps to constitute district-level police complaint authorities (PCAs) for dealing with public complaints against cops.
Punjab chief secretary Rakesh Singh stated in his reply that the process of appointing chairmen and members of the district-level PCAs was under process but because of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, it would take some time.
The Haryana government also submitted that it would form eight PCAs, and each would have jurisdiction over two to three districts. The PCA to be made at Ambala is likely to cover Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar districts. The information was submitted on Friday during the resumed hearing of a contempt of court petition.
