Post-graduate department of commerce and economics of the Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College (GGDSD) organised farewell ceremony 'Amantrya 2014' to bid adieu to the outgoing batch of masters students of the college on Friday.
Indian wrestler and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) contender, Rajesh Kumar alias 'Bheem' visited the college on the occasion. The college auditorium was emotionally surcharged to witness the wrestler on the campus. A number of events were organised to mark the moment.
The highlight of the function was the visit of wrestler, who is India's fourth tallest person. Rajesh is 7 ft 5 inch tall and is Punjab's tallest person. He is also known as the 'New Khali'.
Rajesh interacted with the students and encouraged them to take part in sports. Students, dressed in colourful dresses, walked the ramp and went through three rounds namely introduction, talent and question-answer.
Nobila Singh won the Miss Amantrya title while Gagandeep Singh was adjudged Mr Amamtrya.
Jagwant Singh, head, commerce, and registrar of the college and Balraj Thapar, head, English and GK Saini, dean of arts and head of mathematics, presided over the function and blessed the students.
