Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik and his nine party colleagues were detained in Srinagar on Friday in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, officials said.

Malik and his colleagues were taken into preventive custody by police at Bijbejara, 45 kms from Srinagar, when they were heading for the highway town of Qazigund to address a public meeting, the officials said.

They said Malik and his colleagues were detained as local authorities were apprehensive of the law and order problem.
