Additional district and sessions judge Preeti Sahni on Tuesday acquitted a youth of rape charges after the victim turned hostile.

Manoj Kumar (19) of Darua village was booked on the charges of rape and abduction, but was acquitted as the 17-year-old victim denied being raped or kidnapped and termed arrest as well as registration of FIR a result of misunderstanding.

Police on June 10 had booked Manoj on the complaint of victim's father who had accused him of kidnapping his minor daughter and then raping her for one month in confinement.

However, the victim while deposing before the court on Tuesday denied being kidnapped and said that she had gone to her relative's house without informing her parents which led to misunderstanding owing to which her father lodged the complaint.

Even the victim's father took a U-turn and said the case was registered due to misunderstanding.
Considering their statements the court acquitted Manoj who had been behind bars ever since his arrest.
