Tattooed stars shine brightest

Call it the ink link, young cricket fans seem to be more enthused by the tattoos sported by the players than the matches in the Champions League T20 that are running in front of mostly empty houses.

Tattoos and hair-dos are major style statements of international sports stars and cricket is no different. In Chennai, young fans were at the nets of Cape Cobras more to admire the inking of Dale Steyn and Herschelle Gibbs.

Steyn's stain is on his shoulder while Gibbs has the drawing on his forearm. Indians are not far behind. Chennai Super Kings batsman S Badrinath has a Chinese tattoo that says 'guts and glory' while Raina and Kohli are also tattooed.

"I really like Steyn and Gibbs tattoos. Not only they are good players, they are also fashion icons for us," schoolboy V Sethukumaran said. His friend Nagaraj admires the one on Malinga's hand - 'Destiny says it all'. Nagaraj feels if the organisers arrange for a free tattoo, he might bring a few more spectators in!
