Karishma Kapoor and Archana Kochhar celebrate Women's Day.

To commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, Gitanjali Group, world’s largest integrated branded jewellery retailer, saluted the spirit of life with Bollywood beauty Karishma Kapoor and Designer Archana Kochhar along with children from Project Crayons – an NGO working to empower marginalized communities through HER (Health, Education and Rights). Archana Kochhar has involved the street children to help her craft tassels and accessories for her collection, ‘Mumbai Checkmate’.

Gitanjali Group has always encompassed all the aspects of women through their vast bouquet of brands. On the occasion of Women’s Day they have beautifully weaved in glamour and the spirit of a woman. Archana Kochhar’s new collection, Mumbai Checkmate, is due to be showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week 2013. This is a tiny effort by her to empower the women and make them financially independent.  An event initiated by Dcasters and Gitanjali Group, Karishma Kapoor graced the event sporting an outfit from the ‘Mumbai Checkmate’ collection.

Commenting on the association Bollywood Diva Karishma Kapoor said, “It is indeed an honour for me to be engaging with such an initiative which gives me an opportunity to interact with these lively children. Project Crayons is doing a fabulous job and I am glad Gitanjali Group and Archana Kochhar invited me for this humble cause.”

Speaking about her association with Project Crayons, Archana Kochhar, added “To lend a helping hand to the society has always been my effort, and hence the collaboration with Gitanjali Group and Project Crayons in empowering women. My collection, ‘Mumbai Checkmate’ inculcates the most intricate things about the city that never sleeps and has been my brainwave to create this collection. It is due to be showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2013. It was beautiful partnering with the Dcasters and the most celebrated brand Gitanjali Group and I am more than glad to have the lovely Karishma Kapoor over to support the cause!
