KBC6 ad rates climb to Rs 3.75 lakh/10 sec

The sixth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) begins Friday with superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the host defying concerns of fatigue factor surrounding sequels.

While the prize money remains R5 crore, show timings and duration have been re-worked. KBC6 will be telecast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8.30pm to 10pm.

“The advertiser response has been outstanding,” says Danish Khan, marketing head, Sony.

KBC6 has seen its advertising spot shoot up to Rs 3.75 lakh per 10 seconds this year, from Rs 3.25 lakh per 10 seconds last year. Sony Television expects to collect revenue to the tune of Rs 375 crore as against last season’s Rs 275 crore.

Shubha George, COO, South Asia, of media agency MEC says, “The fact that the show has moved to the weekend without clashing with weekly soaps could add to viewership.”
