MBA aspirants from across the Capital and NCR gathered inside the seminar hall at Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad, on March 23, 2013, for an informative and interactive session on how to prepare for the Common Admission Test (CAT). The session was a part of Mission MBA — a series organised by HT Education in partnership with HT Campus.

The session started with Sidharth Balakrishna, IIM Calcutta alumnus and MBA expert, giving valuable tips to the audience. “To start a group discussion, students should first propose a structure for the topic to be discussed. One should focus on analysing various aspects and then come to a conclusion. One should demonstrate qualities like analytical ability, logical reasoning and leadership skills to impress the evaluators,” said Balakrishna.

One should put in that extra effort to get an edge in a group discussion, he said. “Students should read newspapers, especially the business pages. Reading any current affairs magazine also helps. Whatever you say in a group discussion should not be just an opinion. Structuring one’s thoughts and making notes about important developments can be useful,” he added.

This was followed by another interactive session by Chavi Bhargava, director, faculty of management studies, Manav Rachna International University. Bhargava spoke about what a prospective student should look for while choosing a b-school.
