Constable death: Witness alleges phone being tapped

A journalism student, who claimed that he had seen Delhi Police constable Subhash Chand Tomar collapse and later die during anti-rape protests near India Gate last week, said he had an apprehension that his phone was being tapped.

Police had questioned Yogendra Tomar, who had said that he had not seen Tomar being trampled, or beaten, to death as per the Delhi Police's claim, on Thursday.

"My phone is being tapped... I don't know why," Tomar said on Sunday.

Constable Tomar, 47, had collapsed on Tilak Marg during an anti-rape protest around India Gate Sunday and died of cardiac arrest early Tuesday.

Police said the constable was trampled by the crowd while Yogendra and Pauline, another witness, had claimed that the said constable had collapsed while chasing the crowd and that he was not beaten or trampled upon by the protesters.
