The war of words between Congress and the BJP on Narendra Modi got shriller on Sunday.

Union minister and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma described the BJP’s prime ministerial aspirant as “delusional and desperate”. The saffron party hit back and hailed him as dynamic, decisive and pro-development.”

“Narendra Modi is 3D – decisive, dynamic and development-oriented because he has done something in Gujarat. After Modi was declared the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, we had an electrifying effect not only in the party, but also in the country,” BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said.

While Sharma tried to paint Modi as “rubber-stamped by RSS”, his cabinet colleague Jairam Ramesh said that the “boastful” BJP leader thinks “no one else can do that work in the world. The world starts from him, and ends with him.”

Naidu, on the other hand, took a dig at the Congress, saying, “They have no suitable person in Congress” as their prime ministerial candidate. Adding that in the next election, the BJP will showcase the performance of the BJP-ruled states to fight polls on the planks of developmental and governance.

As recent Modi rallies sported replicas of Parliament and Red Fort, Sharma claimed that the  Gujarat CM’s ambition will always remain as pipe dream.
