The National Students Union of India (NSUI) declared its presidential candidate for the upcoming Panjab University student elections scheduled to be held on September 4.
Chandan Rana (26), a PhD student of Bio-physics would lead the pack for student elections at the campus.
He was the campus party in charge of Student Organisation of Panjab University in 2010 and convener of the SOPU in 2012.
He switched sides with NSUI in 2012 with a number of other student leaders. Son of a civil engineer from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, he said, "I have been a dedicated party worker. They have trusted me and asked to lead the party which I have accepted humbly."
Meanwhile, Himachal students union also joined hands with NSUI for the upcoming elections at the announcement ceremony of the presidential candidate of the party.
Rana further said that his priorities if elected would be getting fees lowered for the self finance courses and press for the recruitment of faculty members on the campus.
