Forming an association on Monday, parents of students of Atam Devki Niketan School, Kidwai Nagar, slammed the school management for not acting in the case of molestation of a Class-7 student, driving students to hold protests.

The parents said instead of hushing up the matter, the school management should have brought it in the notice of police.

The parents also demanded resignation of principals of the school and Devki Devi Jain College for adopting an apathetic approach towards the sensitive matter.

Parents alleged that when the college students raised the matter, the college principal started threatening them of rustication from the college.

They said if the principal would have taken the matter seriously, the students would not have been forced to go for stir. They also alleged that the school and college management had lied before the police and media that the bus driver and conductor were sacked due to embezzlement of funds.

Parents Suresh Malhotra, Jatinder Khurana, Sanjiv Kapoor, Som Nath Chopra, Ramesh Bangar, besides others, demanded installation of CCTV cameras in school and college buses. They also demanded to appoint female staff in these buses.

While talking to mediapersons, Khurana alleged that the principal did not bother about the complaints made by the students and issued threats to them to keep mum.

He said the parents association would take up 28 matters, including free education to underprivileged students, establishment of fee counter in school and college, before the school and college management. Others who were present on the occasion were Girish Nakda, Bhupinder Singh, Varinder Kumar, Swarnjit Singh, Baljit Singh Chhatwal and Gurvinder Singh.
