As the controversy over separate gurdwara management committee for Haryana continues, a delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members from Haryana on Wednesday met the Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and apprised him of the prevailing situation in that state over the issue.
The delegation from Haryana informed the Akal Takht jathedar that certain elements were supporting Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to divide the SGPC and that efforts were on to form a separate body for managing the affairs of gurdwaras in Haryana.
The SGPC delegation told the jathedar that Didar Singh Nalvi and Jagdish Singh Jhinda, along with some other Sikh leaders, are backing the Hooda government’s move to form a separate committee.
After listening to the delegation of SGPC members, Giani Gurbachan Singh said, “It is learnt that certain elements are supporting the Congress-led Haryana government to form a separate committee.
This will not be tolerated. Any Sikh leader, who tries to weaken the SGPC or divide it, will have to face action from Akal Takht.”
The Akal Takht jathedar said that if anyone has any complaint regarding management of gurdwaras anywhere, it can be discussed. “But such acts to weaken the SGPC will not be tolerated,” he added.
