Google celebrates Ella Fitzgerald's 96th birthday!

Google, on Thursday dedicated its doodle to Ella Fitzgerald on occasion of her 96th birthday. She made her singing debut when she was 17-years-old and has won 13 Grammy Awards. Here's to the Queen of Jazz!

  • Ella Fitzgerald was also known as 'Queen of Jazz.'
  • She won 13 Grammy Awards and was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George HW Bush.
  • She made her singing debut at 17 in 1934.
  • She died in 1996 at the age of 79.
  • Over the course of her 59-year recording career, she sold 40 million copies of her 70-plus albums
