Popular Punjabi satirist Gurpreet Ghuggi joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday. Ghuggi, who began his career with the Jalandhar Doordarshan, had always been one of the finest satirist produced by the Punjabi entertainment industry. During his career, the popular comedian has never refrained from taking jibes at politicians or comically criticise the government policies.
As he begins his political innings, we give you his best takes on politics through comedy.
The ‘sifarashi’ leaders: In this video, Ghuggi describes those leaders who fleece people and government official claiming they have all the ‘approaches’ and contacts and that they can get anything done in seconds.
‘Lambardars’: This is Ghuggi’s take on people who always want to enjoy being the leader.
Take on government policies: Ghuggi, in another video, also tells you what happens when the government imposes taxes on everything.
Joining the party in the presence of state party affairs incharge Sanjay Singh and other senior leaders, Ghuggi said, “I have always been a political satirist. Now, the time has come for me to contribute to Punjab practically. I am immensely impressed by Arvind Kejriwal’s practical politics.”
“The party has performed well in Delhi in one year that enabled me to make up my mind,” he said, adding that he wanted to play a constructive role in society, so he joined the AAP.
In reply to a question, he said he did not wish for a ticket. “I will work for the party wholeheartedly as a soldier, and will do whatever the party assigns me,” he said.
