I am afraid these injuries will leave a mark on my face. I was preparing for my exams and didn’t expect anything like this to happen.”
“All of them have suffered abrasions and cuts on their bodies as the metal and broken glass pierced their body. Only Mushraf got stitches on his head,” said a police official. The BEST bus driver Ramesh Patil,32, was arrested late night. He has been booked under IPC sections 279, 337,338 and 427. He will be produced before a magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
A senior BEST official said, “Ideally the BEST bus is supposed to be in the left or middle lane, but in this case it was on the right lane. The driver apparently tried to overtake other vehicles and in meantime dashed the tree which was protruding carriage but since it was very tall it never came in way of smaller vehicles.”
