A day after the murder of bouncer Amit Sharma alias Meet at Panchkula’s Saketri area, SAS Nagar police got two days’ remand of one of the prime accused named in this murder case after he was brought to the SAS Nagar court on the production warrant from Nabha Jail, where he was currently lodged in connections with the Arms Act.

While SAS Nagar police claimed that the accused Gagandeep Singh was taken in custody for regular interrogation, his interrogation in bouncer’s murder case was not ruled out.

SAS Nagar’s senior superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh said that he would be questioned for his involvement in all the cases he was booked so far. Panchkula police commissioner RC Mishra added that his team will also interrogate him in coordination with SAS Nagar police and confident of some leads in days to come.

The preliminary investigation reveals that Gagan had threatened to kill his arch business rival Amit Sharma after he was humiliated by latter’s bouncers last year and even made unsuccessful attempt to kill him also.

Later, he was arrested by the Punjab Police for carrying illegal weapons near Kurali. First he was kept in Ropar jail and then transferred to Nabha jail.

 Gounder connection

One theory being projected is that Gagan planned Amit’s murder allegedly with the help of Punjab’s dreaded criminal Vicky Gounder and his gang.

Gagan met Gounder and his associates during his stay at Ropar and Nabha Jail. The latter fled the high-security Nabha jail in November last year and is still on the run.

Panchkula police, however, are still not confirmed about Gounder’s involvement. A senior official said that the leads they managed so far suggest that Gagan and his associates had planned the murder due to old rivalry with Amit Sharma.

“The investigation is still underway and anything is possible,” he added

Two other accused still at large

Besides Gagan, Panchkula police had booked two more of his associates, including Sonu Shah and Surjeet Singh, who were yet not been nabbed despite five police teams tracing them since Monday.

The identity of two masked assailants, who fired shots at him multiples times on Monday, is also unknown so far.  Deputy commissioner of police Ashok Kumar said that the police were expecting major lead in a day or two.

Amit Sharma’s body cremated

The body of Amit Sharma was cremated at the Manimajra cremation ground after his autopsy was done at Panchkula government medical hospital. His medical report revealed that three bullets were recovered from inside the body while one bullet was stuck in the belt.

A huge rush of his associates gad gathered as his body was brought to his house in Manimajra for last rites.  Amit’s mother, who was with him when he was shot dead, was still in shock and unable to come out of the trauma.  He is survived by wife and a two-year-old son.
