A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his wife.
Terming the case against him a “BJP-sponsored litigation”, Bharti had sought bail before the court, even as the police opposed it saying he was an influential person who could hamper the probe.
“I have not seen the order yet. If he has got bail, it’s okay. But that doesn’t dilute his offence,” Bharti’s estranged wife Lipika said.
Bharti lawyer had on Tuesday said it was a case of an “on-and-off relationship” which was blown out of proportion due to political motives and alleged that it was a “BJP-sponsored litigation”.
