The incident came to light at around 5pm. People chased away the dogs with the help of the hospital staff. Officials later called up police, who took the body for autopsy.

“We checked the records and patients at the hospital. There was no newborn missing from our premises. It could be that someone threw the body inside the hospital complex. It could be a stable baby. Things will be clearer after the post-mortem,” said Shraddha Yadav, chief medical superintendent, MMG hospital.

The officials said they had no clue about how the body came inside the hospital complex but will investigate it.

“After the dogs were spotted, the relatives of the patients and our staff drove them away and called up police. We have checked the records of abortion cases during the past two day. No one has claimed the body,” she said.

Following the incident, several persons present at the spot also clicked pictures and prepared the videos of the incident which were later circulated over the social media.
