The filing of nomination papers for elections to different posts of Satluj Club would begin on Tuesday. The candidates can file their nominations till Wednesday evening. The elections to the club are scheduled for April 24.
As per the elections schedule, while the nomination papers would be filed on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 pm to 8 pm, the scrutiny of nomination papers would take place between 8 pm to 9 pm on the same day. The list of valid nominations would be displayed at 9pm. The candidates can withdraw nomination on April 21 between 5 pm to 9 pm. The list of contenting candidates would be displayed on the same day.
Meanwhile, the members would cast their votes on April 24 between 9 am to 5 pm.
Rajesh Bhambi, former vice president of the club, who is contesting for the post of finance secretary, said that a weeks time was enough for campaigning by candidates.
Meanwhile, club’s bar secretary Vaneet Randev, who is again contesting for the same post, said that it was a welcome decision by deputy commissioner to hold elections.
“Although there is comparatively less time for campaigning this time, it’s a good move as club gets embroiled in controversies if more time is granted for campaigning,” he said.
