Four Jammu and Kashmir bank employees die enroute to Pathankot in bus collision

At least four employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank died in a road accident on the Jammu-Pathankot highway on Monday morning.

At least four employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank died in a road accident on the Jammu-Pathankot highway on Monday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:15 am when the Swift car they were travelling in collided head on with a bus near Barnoti on the highway in Kathua district, some 75 kms from Jammu. The car had lost control following a tyre burst.

The passengers died on the spot.

A police officer told Hindustan Times that the four bankers were on their way to Pathankot to join their duties at the branch there.

All of them were residents of Jammu and were identified as branch head Mohan Singh, Anil Gupta, Rakesh Charak and second branch manager Ajay Koul.

According to the car spun out of control due to the tyre burst and the vehicle jumped over the divider, colliding with a bus coming in the opposite direction.

No one in the bus suffered injuries.

Due to the high speed collision, the bodies of the victims were badly mutilated.

Police are looking for their addresses and next of kin.
