Two people have been arrested for burgling shops in Badshahpur on February 20 and 21 and making off with cash and goods worth lakhs of rupees.
The police identified the accused as Giriraj and Krishan, both residents of Sohna and members of Sanju gang since 2014. The gang’s leader Sanju was arrested by the police earlier this week.
According to the police, based on a tip-off, they arrested Giriraj late Wednesday night near Damdama lake and seized a Maruti Suzuki Ritz from him.
On investigation, the police discovered that the vehicle had been used for the burglaries in Badshahpur and Giriraj allegedly revealed to the police that he also had an accomplice, Krishan.
Krishan was later arrested from Sohna and a motorcycle was seized from him.
Inspector Arun Kumar said upon questioning, the two revealed the involvement of four others in the burglaries.
“The two also revealed names of three who had shot Deepak, a shopkeeper in Badshahpur, on January 30. Police teams have been sent to nab the accused,” Arun said.
On Tuesday night, burglars fled with cash and goods from three shops in Badshahpur village. They had used the same modus operandi the previous day as well when they made off with cash, clothes and groceries from nine shops in Badshahpur market.
Since the modus operandi was the same, the police suspected that a single gang was behind both incidents.
Residents of Badshahpur had blocked the Sohna road following these incidents. They dispersed only after the police assured them of quick action in these incidents.
