Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders termed the arrest of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, as political vendetta. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unleashed all agencies in the country against Kejriwal.
Senior party leader Ashish Khetan said Modi wanted to “finish off Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party.”
“CBI, ACB, Punjab police-Modi ji has unleashed all the agencies in the country against one man-Arvind Kejriwal (sic),” he tweeted.
Party leaders said the BJP was scared of AAP’s growing popularity in other states.

“Delhi has had an elected government for 23 years but never has the Centre behaved in this manner and stooped so low. There is a clear reason for all of this. Kejriwal held a massive rally in Punjab on Sunday.
“We have got a great response in Goa - where we will win – and in Gujarat. A survey that was released on Sunday said we are winning 100 out of 117 seats in Punjab. The Centre is scared and is hatching conspiracies against us to paralyse Delhi’s elected government,” said deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
He also said the government was standing behind Kumar as no evidence had been placed on record to make them believe otherwise.
The party is linking the arrest as well as the transfers directly to what they called a massive rally in Punjab and a good show in Goa and Gujarat.
Another senior leader, Ashutosh, said it wasn’t clear if Modi hated Pakistan more or AAP. He said Kumar was arrested despite the CBI court making scathing comments against the investigating agency and asking it to provide evidence against the officer.

“This is nothing, but a case of political vendetta. Several times in the past the special CBI court has scolded the agency and asked it to provide proof against Kumar,” he said.
AAP’s Punjab affairs in charge, Sanjay Singh, said the BJP would lose badly in Goa and Punjab despite unleashing the CBI against them.
“The country is watching your black deeds,” Singh tweeted.
