No need to chase God
There is no better service to the innocent people than to dispel their ignorance and give them the right direction. Religious gurus must tell the people that God is eternal and permanent; they need not chase Him. Urvashi Goel writes.
The deaths of over 100 devotees in the MP temple stampede makes one visualise God screaming, “Don’t chase me, I’m within you and everywhere.
If you don’t look within and instead chase me like a deer after a mirage, it is not my fault.” God has a justified reason to scream because His very ‘darshna’ becomes the reason of deaths every now and then, in our country.
Even if your belief says that He is present in some special place, why to chase Him; He can be reached leisurely. It is certain God is eternal and permanent, unlike man. When it is known that He is eternal and permanent, who was there before the creation of this Universe and will remain even after destruction, then why should one rush to meet Him.
The time, money and other resources we spend to reach him on a particular day can be used to reach a needy in hospital. It is pity that our self-serving religious gurus do not tell our innocent people that God loves those who love his fellow beings.
Why do we forget that all our enlightened sages and great souls found him by looking within themselves? The great Adi Shankracharya, after visiting Varanasi, had atoned by saying, “Oh, Omnipresent God, pardon my sin of looking for you at a special place.”
Mother Teresa too had said beautifully, “God is the friend of silence. See how nature, trees, flowers and grass grow in silence.” The Vedas say, “Simple acts of pollination, flowering of buds, metamorphosis of larva into a splendid butterfly manifest His presence.”
The Bhagavad Gita says, the person who dwells within and is contented within is indeed a yogi. The seeker who has turned inward finds greatest bliss in solitude. In such a state, he can uninterruptedly enjoy the bliss within.
