Find happiness in small things and be thankful for this life
It was like any other day. I boarded the Delhi Metro for college. Soon I realised that I have forgotten my earphones at home, so I started observing people inside the coach. When I tried to listen to their conversations or study their faces, I found that many were suffering in some way or the other. I was left with these questions: Were these issues worth worrying about? Is anyone really happy?
It struck me then that this is what most of us do: Run hard all our lives in the pursuit of happiness while ignoring the little things that make us happy; the little blessings of our life. Our problems seem like the end of the world to us. We have redefined the meaning of happiness as the possession of materialistic things.
Each time you face a problem, remind yourself that you are lucky enough to have this life as many on this earth are fighting for survival. Each time you have a meal, think about the people who don’t who can’t afford two square meals. Each time you enter your home, think of the people who don’t have a roof over their heads. Each time you feel your parents are a burden, think about orphans.
Change your perspective towards life and the journey will be more exciting to you. There is so much to feel happy about, to smile, to be proud of.
Live each moment and smile through your worries. It’s not the problems but your attitude towards them that matters. Be thankful for this life. Find happiness in the smallest of things and this will complete your pursuit of happiness.
