The secret to a happy life is to follow your passion
Last week, I happened to attend a seminar where after exchanging ideas, the speaker suddenly got on to something drastically different: Hobbies. One after another he bombarded the audience with questions that left everyone dazed. At that moment I wondered why is there so much stress given on pursuing our hobbies and passion along with the hectic daily routine. But the fact was that every word the speaker said was indeed true in itself. After toiling the entire day, we just have one complaint — that we do not have time for ourselves and our family.
So why this fuss over the issue of pursuing our hobbies? When was the last time you played your guitar? When was the last time you bothered to take that canvas out and paint something you have been wanting to for a while? When we are passionate about something we will not need reasons to not be able to do them.
I am sure we all have certain things we would love to do in our spare time, perhaps some even take it up as a career. However, not all of us have that courage to do something unique. But the real contentment and satisfaction lies in understanding what makes us happy and taking time out to execute it in reality.
Take that book from the shelf which you have been wanting to read or write that story you have been thinking about for awhile, pack your bags and go for that trek you have always dreamt about because life is about doing things that make you feel alive. Having something exciting to look forward to will change your attitude towards work and life.
