The BJP's popularity is going south thanks to its internal crises
This refers to the editorial BJP's southern discomfort (Our Take, October 8). The BJP has failed to impress voters in the south thanks to the party's internal problems in Karnataka. BS Yeddyurappa's breaking ties with the party will be a big setback for the BJP, as it was his efforts that helped the party come to power in Karnataka. If he floats another political party, which Yeddyurappa threatens to do soon, it will do a lot of harm to the BJP, which is already struggling to make a mark in the southern states. As the editorial rightly states, the BJP is running out of time to set its house in order. It should be busy formulating strategies for the 2014 elections.

It's just the tip of the iceberg
This refers to the report KFA CEO among top earners at UB group (October 8). The Kingfisher crisis is just the tip of the iceberg. The Indian aviation sector suffers from many more problems. For example, India does not even have one dedicated centre for the maintenance and repair of all aircraft. At present, most of the planes are sent to Dubai for maintenance work. The UPA must formulate policies that help the aviation industry as a whole, not just a particular airline.

It's time to set some House rules
I agree with Sitaram Yechury's views as expressed in his article House not in order (Left Hand Drive, October 9). A constitutional amendment to make it mandatory for our MPs to meet for at least 100 days in a calendar year is the need of the hour. A timetable for these days will help other departments like the Election Commission plan assembly elections accordingly. A huge amount of public money is wasted thanks to constant disruptions of Parliament. This money can be saved by acting on Yechury's suggestion.
