The Pakistani army should take India’s warning seriously
With reference to the report Flag meeting flops, army talks tough (January 15), I congratulate Army Chief General Bikram Singh for warning Pakistan to respect the ceasefire between the two countries. He has done a good job of clearly stating that India reserves the right to give a fitting reply to Pakistan for the recent killing of two soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC). By taking the matter seriously and standing up for his soldiers, the army chief has set a brilliant example. Let’s hope that Pakistan gets the message and its army doesn’t dare to repeat the January 8 incident.

They fell through the cracks
Harsh Mander presents a different and fresh perspective on the Delhi rape incident in his article Let’s reach out in time (Democracy Wall, January 14). There’s no doubt that we need to amend the Juvenile Justice Act. But it’s more important to change our outlook towards juvenile delinquents and understand the conditions and circumstances that shape their lives. Mander rightly states that society fosters violence in some young offenders through its indifference.

A welcome transformation
This refers to the report Town Hall to go touristy with museum, food court (January 13). I appreciate and welcome the Delhi government’s decision to convert Town Hall into a museum. However, the proposed food court may lead to traffic problems, as there is insufficient parking space in that area. Also, it would be great if the concerned  authorities convert a part of Town Hall into a theatre so that plays, movies and other cultural activities can be organised in this part of Delhi.
