Having boarded the flight from Mumbai to Colombo in the wee hours on Monday, the Sri Lankan players should have been desperate for a good day’s sleep ahead of Saturday’s quarterfinal against England.

However, the team opted for a different bonding exercise, attending the opening of Tillakaratne Dilshan’s apparel store — DL Step. While almost the entire squad came with their spouses, skipper Kumar Sangakkara started his day early in the afternoon.

He was the guest of honour at the launch of the book ‘From Rags to Riches – Memorable moments in Sri Lanka’s World Cup journey’, written by a Lankan journalist.

Function over, Sangakkara and his wife arrived at Dilshan’s store. “It’s a nice way to relax. To be part of the first business venture of one of your teammates is a special moment,” a tired-looking Sangakkara said.
