The huge smile on the face of Mahendra Singh Dhoni said it all. The convincing series victory against Pakistan was indeed a huge achievement for the young skipper. And he didn’t think twice before attributing it to an all-round team effort. “It’s been a result of brilliant team effort. The players have not shied away from responsibilities. The batsmen shouldered more responsibility when the bowlers fell short and the bowlers, too, did quite well,” he said.
Showering special praise on Yuvraj, the skipper said he had been doing really well and
they enjoy batting together as they complement each other. “We understand each other’s game well as both of us are strokemakers. His presence on the other end gives you the cushion to pace your innings,” he said.
The next to come in for special praise was Sachin Tendulkar. “It’s pleasure to have him in the side. He helps everyone around and fights the battle from the front,” said Dhoni, adding it was saddening for them to see him miss the century so often,” Dhoni said.
As for Pakistan, he said they lacked the aggression they had displayed earlier.
The Pakistan skipper, though looking shell shocked, tried to put up a brave face saying they were professionals and had to live with defeats. “One just have to forget the bad days and memories and move ahead,” said the Pakistan skipper. When asked for a specific reason for the defeat, he identified bowling, which let them down.
