For the last three nights as a team we have got close. It's been about being together and going out for dinner as a team.
The franchise owners, the team and the management group went out together to a local Indian restaurant here in Port Elizabeth for dinner. It was a buffet laid out for us and needless to say we all enjoyed it.
The guys got to interact with each other and it was time well spent. This was the first big opportunity for us to be together as a group.
We have been in Port Elizabeth for three nights now. We got here straight after the last game against Chennai. It's been hectic in the sense that we got back to the hotel after that game in Durban. We changed and were quickly onto a bus to the airport. It was time to head to Port Elizabeth on Thursday night itself.
As soon as we checked in here we were amazed at the beauty surrounding us. As I look out from my hotel I can see beautiful beaches and the weather oh so good.
Looking out on the horizon has been a sight to behold.
Couple of the guys have been out surfing a few times. We have been lucky in that AB our local player has played our South African host very well. He has been helping the guys when they are not quite sure about a particular thing. He has certainly been a big help to young Indian guys who are here for the first time. He has been on hand to share his knowledge of the place.
On the other hand we have the guys like Glenn McGrath who have been here a number of times, as have some other senior players including myself. We have all been sharing our experience and helping others get acclimatised.
I know most of the Indian guys in the team. We have a rapport going though nothing is formalised. But I am part of the experience they are undergoing of finding out things in South Africa. Saturday is a day of a normal training routine. We trained hard, as I see McGrath, Viru alongside me, it all seems like a great dream that all of us are on the same side.
The training ends, its now time to relax before we get out on what is a typical Saturday evening here. We wouldn't be doing ourselves service if we do not get out to have the local fare especially the sea food.
Its Sunday, the D Day, we have an early morning today. We meet at 10.45 am and leave for the ground. The game starts at 12.30 pm and the guys are already in game mode. Bangalore our next opponents are a handy side and we are quietly confident.
