Mohammad Ashraful stroked a marvellous century to help Bangladesh reach 300 for 8 in their 50 overs against minnows United Arab Emirates in their Asia Cup opener on Tuesday.
Ashraful with Tamim Iqbal set the tone and put on 95 runs for the second wicket. Tamim, however, could not make the most of his start and was run out for 40 after failing to heed Ashraful's call to avoid an unnecessary third run in the 24th over.
Bangladesh looked set for a formidable total after making 64 in their first ten overs, before the UAE's spinners put the breaks on the scoring.
