The Bangalore Test between India and Australia saw plenty of twists and drama. India were blown away by a spell of 8/50 from Nathan Lyon while Matt Renshaw and Shaun Marsh scored fifties to give Australia the lead.
Cheteshwar Pujara’s magnificent 92 and his 118-run stand with Ajinkya Rahane helped India set Australia a target of 188. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a sensational spell as he picked up his 25th five-wicket haul to help India clinch a sensational 75-run win to level the series. (SCORECARD)
After a surprisingly quiet Test match in Pune and the first innings of the Bangalore Test, Ashwin came into his own as he picked up 6/41 to run through the Australian batting. Speaking about the performance after the end of the match, Ashwin said, “It was not coming out of the hand all right. I was trying to turn it too hard. One good thing I did was when wickets were not coming, I kept the runs down.”
The ace off-spinner also took to Twitter to state that this was the best match of his life. The emotion that he displayed after he took the final wicket of Nathan Lyon spoke volumes about the desire that India wanted to level the series.

Along with Ashwin, India skipper Virat Kohli also took to Twitter to praise the performance of the team. Kohli has currently scored only 40 runs in four innings but his poor form would have been pushed to the background after India’s great win.
Special day this. We are a team. We win together we lose together. Proud of you boys. Jai Hind 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/nhmeI8YTvq— Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) March 7, 2017
Kohli and his team got a heroic welcome at the hotel after the stunning win. With the series tied 1-1, there is plenty at stake for both India and Australia heading into the Ranchi Test.
